Shelly Palmer Radio Report – July 30, 2014

If you’re a regular use of Google Chrome, you probably know that you can perform Google searches directly in the browser’s “Omnibox” – that text box at the top of your screen that shows a website’s URL. But did you know that you can also add other site-specific search engines to that box? It saves you a step when you want to buy something on Amazon or find a movie to watch on Netflix, and it’s really simple to set up. Here’s what you’ve got to do. First, head to the website you want to add to Chrome, right click in the search box, then click “Add as search engine…” Chrome will then open a pop-up where you can give the site a name and, more importantly, a keyword. Type that keyword into Chrome’s Omnibox, then hit tab. A block with the site’s name will show up in the Omnibox, letting you know you’re now searching on that site instead of Google. Type in your search, hit enter, and you’re searching like a pro!
