Bell “Smart” Helmets with 360fly Integrated Camera

By Digital Dan Dubno

You’re riding down the highway looking for adventure on your motorcycle. But now your helmet is capturing the 360-degree experience in vibrant and detailed 4K video.  Bell Helmets, at CES 2016, has unveiled a magnificent video camera system built in to the helmet that captures a full hour and a half of video. They’ve also integrated the 360fly system in helmets for mountain bikers and extreme sports fans and it isn’t tough to predict that ultimate sports broadcasts will never look the same.  Here’s what I love about the system that 360fly has implemented: the dynamic integration between the camera and a phone app you can mount on your bike. It automatically shows when a car is climbing towards your rear in an unsafe manner alerting you to collision avoidance. The software also has video enhancing capabilities such as “autopilot” which lets the camera decide to show you which video has the most dramatic action in your 360 view.   Should you want conventional 16 by 9 video, the camera system can easily do that as well. Pricing hasn’t been set but, considering they’re attaching these camera systems to top of the line motorcycle and bike helmets, don’t expect to buy them cheap when they become available in the Fall of 2016.
